Melissa Wilson

Each weeknight, Melissa Wilson is welcomed into Houston homes as the co-anchor of FOX 26 News at 9. A Texas native, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications from Baylor University.

Melissa worked briefly in the medical and advertising fields before accepting her first broadcasting job at KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls. Melissa went on to anchor the 24-hour statewide cable network Florida's News Channel.

She returned to Texas in September of 2000 to join the FOX 26 News team to co-anchor FOX 26 News at 9, along with Mike Barajas. She also spends many afternoons at the Texas Medical Center as FOX 26's Medical Reporter.

In addition to her work in news, Melissa serves on the Board of Directors for "Gifts with Heart". The group provides holiday gifts for children in need and presents challenges for children to get on the move and lower our local obesity rate. She also holds her annual Melissa Wilson Celebrity Golf Tournament, benefiting Children at Risk. Melissa serves on the advisory board for the Lazarus House, a safe haven for people with degenerative disease, and she serves on the Medical Board for the Harris County Community College Nurse's Association.

She is on the advisory board for the Baylor Business Network and a member of Baylor University Woman's Association of Houston and Sigma Kappa's Alumnae Association.

Melissa is an honorary Co-Chair for the Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure in Houston. She is a "Friend of Escape Family Resource Center", which educates families in crisis to prevent child abuse.

Melissa has also volunteered for the Christian Community Service Center, Star of Hope, and served on the Board of Directors for Children at Risk, the March of Dimes, and United Way.

Melissa enjoys everything from skydiving, scuba diving, to reading a good book. Her favorite spare time is doing anything and everything with her husband and two children.
