
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Seth Smith homered and scored three times last night as the Oakland Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 9-2. A's starter Bartolo Colon earned his first win in nearly a month after allowing two runs and striking out three in seven innings. Jurickson Profar drove in both of the Rangers' runs.
HOUSTON (AP) - Matt Dominguez hit a three-run homer last night as the Houston Astros edged the Kansas City Royals 6-5. Jason Castro added a solo shot to help Astros starter Dallas Keuchel earned his first win of the season. Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie allowed six runs and eight hits in five innings of work.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The San Antonio Spurs will try to go up 2-0 tonight in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Spurs beat the Grizzlies 105-83 in Game 1 on Sunday. After a dismal performance to open the series, Memphis power forward Zach Randolph pointed out yesterday that even Muhammad Ali got knocked down and was able to get back up.
HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Texans safety Ed Reed and linebacker Brian Cushing will miss all of the team's organized team activities, which began yesterday. Coach Gary Kubiak says Reed is doing "really well" as he recovers from hip surgery. And Cushing says he has no restrictions on his left knee, but coaches are playing it safe.
