ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Brett Gardner had four hits, including a home run, to help the New York Yankees beat the Texas Rangers 12-11 last night. Mark Teixeira, Carlos Beltran, Zoilo Almonte and Brendan Ryan each drove in two runs for the Yankees. J.P. Arencibia had two homers and seven RBIs for the Rangers.

HOUSTON (AP) - The Oakland Athletics scored six runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Houston Astros 7-4 last night. Josh Reddick homered and Yoenis Cespedes had three hits for the AL West-leading A's. Enrique Hernandez drove in two runs for the Astros, who fell to 43-64 on the season.

DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Mavericks have signed forward Ivan Johnson after he started all five games for their summer league team. The contract was announced yesterday. Johnson played last season in China, averaging 26 points and nearly 10 rebounds in 24 games.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) - FC Dallas has traded midfielder Andrew Jacobson to expansion New York City FC for a third-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. The deal was announced yesterday, about eight months before New York's newest team starts play in Yankee Stadium in March. Jacobson becomes the fifth player on the expansion team's roster.
